Login: | Moving forward with SquashHi everyone, With the map out of lockdown in place set out by the government and a predicted plan proposed by England Squash, we can start to reengage the squash community with how we move forward in a timely manner inline with the easing of restrictions. The GSA have been working hard over the entire lockdown(s) developing a strategy to increase junior participation within the county as well as increasing awareness of squash to those that don't know what squash is. We also have developed a summer league strategy for when we can open up for county leagues again which looks likely to be beyond the 17th May but more likely 21st June unfortunately. We aim to run the summer league with singles and doubles (if the restrictions allows doubles) as well as a racketball league on a seperate night at no cost to teams entering. We would like to hear your feedback and suggestions on this and any other constructive ideas we could possibly do over the summer. We will be launching a new county association website in the coming weeks to engage new participants into the sport more easily along with a social media strategy that will complement the websites value. We will be keeping the league site within the new website as the squashlevels league system has been a great addition to the county association and engagement of county league players. Furthermore, we have partnered with Karakal UK for the introduction of the Karakal starter pack to increase junior participation at local squash clubs that have a junior development infrastructure set up. If your club wishes to be apart of this, please get in contact with Mark Toseland at rightin2fitness@outlook.com to discuss how we can help set this up with you and your clubs. There are plenty more initiatives that are currently being developed from the GSA's standpoint and we'll release more information about them over the next few months once agreements are in place. As you may have seen on our social media pages, we have established a GoFundMe page for an inflateable squash court. Our aim is to use this for outreach purposes on a regular basis that can help all clubs in the county engage possible new members from all demographics. We would like your clubs to ask us how you would like to use the inflateable squash court over the summer period and who you intend to target using it. However, we need donations to cover the initial cost and we wont be able to run your ideas and stragies until we have made up the funding required. Therefore, we would appreciate your help and support to encourage as many people as you know to donate towards it. please see below for a link to the GoFundMe page. We hope you are all keeping well and look forward to playing squash again at your home clubs soon. We're very keen to run the county leagues as soon as restrictions allow us to. In the mean time, play safe and enjoy the socialising once more when your clubs reopen. We hope to see you all soon. The GSA Team. |
